La Porte Junior High will have 2 teams competing in the State History Fair in Austin on April 27-28, 2007. Both teams advance to state after receiving 2nd place recognition in the Regional History Fair in Baytown. The category, title of the entry and the students include:

Exhibit: "Texas City Disaster", presented by Jill Dozier, Elizabeth Hanks, Brian Despain, Marlyed Gonzalez and Melanie Gomez. Teachers for these 8th grade students include Deneshia Demouchet (Dozier, Hanks, Despain, Gomez) and Gaylene Waite (Gonzalez).

Performance: "Massacre for Freedom", presented by Cheyenne Connor, Alissa Frobenius and Audora Mazariegos. The teacher for these 7th grade students is Erma Nolen.
