Garza selected as one of NASA's High School Aerospace Scholars
| Wednesday, May 9th, 2007 |
Coy Garza of La Porte High School will visit NASA’s Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston, Texas, on June 24, 2007 to participate in a one-week summer internship.
Coy was nominated by Senator Mike Jackson and has been selected as one of 314 high school juniors from across Texas to be part of High School Aerospace Scholars (HAS). Coy will apply what he has learned during the school year and will be challenged to work as part of a team to design a mission to Mars.
The weeklong experience at JSC includes a tour of JSC facilities and briefings by noted NASA employees—including astronauts. Coy and teammates will conclude their experience by presenting their proposal at a luncheon to their parents, members of the Texas Legislature, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Rotary NASA, and JSC senior management. |
