Before the winter break, the LPHS Academic Decathalon Team finished 9th overall (out of 39 teams) at a local meet and had the following medals:

• Karolyn Power: 3rd Place Varsity Math, 3rd Varsity Language and Literature, 4th in Varsity Speech 
• Andrea Monteilh: 1st Varsity Interview
• Curtis Wyche: 5th Scholastic Interview
• Chelsea Bethancourt: 5th Scholastic Interview
• John Lawler: 2nd Scholastic Interview, 3rd Scholastic Speech
• Jack Swearingen: 1st Honors Speech
• Andrea Rodriguez: 6th Scholastic Math
• Brett Burdeaux: 6th Varsity Math,  6th Art, 6th Speech, 5th Super Quiz
• Jennifer Morgan: 6th Interview Scholastic Interview ,
• Jerri Rubio: 5th Varsity Math
