La Porte ISD welcomes Lloyd Graham as our new Superintendent, starting March 1, 2008. The Board of Trustees is confident that he is the right choice to continue leading the district forward in the positive, progressive direction that former superintendent Dr. Michael W. Say established.
Kathy Green, La Porte ISD Board of Trustees' president stated, "Through the leadership of Dr. Say and our board, the district is in solid financial shape for the future and we have a long range plan in place that will provide us the roadmap to continue climbing to a higher level of student success. We as a board are confident that Mr. Graham is the right person to help us continue to climb. We interviewed a number of highly qualified, outstanding applicants. Ultimately, we really feel that Mr. Graham is the very best fit for La Porte ISD and our community. We look forward to his leadership."
Graham's credentials are strong. In 1994 he was named State Regular Educator of the Year by the Texas Council of Administrators of Special Education. Honors and awards also include being Regional Superintendent of the Year for Educational Service Center XIII in June 1999. He was then named as a Finalist: State Superintendent of the Year, October 1999 by the Texas Association of School Boards. That same year in August 1999, his Board of Trustees was recognized as the Regional Honor Board of Trustees by Educational Service Center XIII. He is active and committed to many educational boards, including serving as the Executive Director for the Hunt County Head Start; a VP and director for the Texas Association of Mid-Size Schools; a Director on the State Board for the Texas Academic Decathlon; and a current member on the Administrative Services Committee for Texas Association of School Administrators.
Prior to coming to La Porte, Mr. Graham was the Superintendent of Schools for Greenville Independent School District. He plans to complete his Doctorate of Philosophy Educational Administration through the University of Texas at Austin in May 2008.
