After a rigorous application process, twenty La Porte High School students have been selected to go to China on Sunday, March 16th for a two week cultural experience. Thanks to funds raised by the La Porte Education Foundation and contributions from both local industry and small businesses, the twenty students plus three teacher chaperones will be visiting Beijing, Xian, Tianjin, and Shanghai in an effort to build relations between the two countries. Accompanying them will be Education Foundation representative Gloria Lair as well as Nancy Li from the Easton Development Company, who put the trip together and serves as our main contact to China. In addition to experiencing all the cultural interests China has to offer, the students will also have the opportunity to stay three days with a student from Nankai High School in Tianjin in order to really experience the day-to-day life of China and what it is like to be a student there.
Be sure to look for upcoming events as the students will be presenting projects to the school and community in the near future.
