LPHS Choir wins awards at Lonestar Music Festival
Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

On Saturday, April 12th, members of the LPHS Choir competed in the Lonestar Music Festival in Dallas Texas. The group's hard work during after school rehearsals paid off as they received not only SUPERIORs from all of the judges but also won BEST IN CLASS for Treble groups and BEST OVERALL CHOIR PERFORMANCE for the Contest site.

They performed "Vere Languores" (Latin piece), "Mbiri Kuna Mwari" (a piece from Zimbabwe), and finally "Sign No More Ladies" with text by William Shakespeare.

Students participating in the trip to Dallas were: Brittany Druckenbrodt, Kristina Goodrich, Hanna Vergara, Megan Cox, Natalie Munoz, Courtney Allen, Jennifer Willis, Megan Ayers, Latoya Phillips, Deja Wrought, Maya Wrought, Myranda Gill, Zoe McCourt, Delaney Knight, Jordan Tracy, Sierra McCaleb, Alexis Lawrence, Amanda Barnes, Isaiah Martinez (playing percussion), Cameron Valencia (playing percussion), Michael Hayes (playing percussion), Joey Grahm, and Doug Bailey. Congratulations to these students! The Choir is directed by Mrs. Sandra Strickhouser.
