Dear Parents:
Because the safety of La Porte ISD students is our top priority, I wanted to make you aware of an incident that occurred this morning in a neighborhood close to La Porte High School.
A La Porte High School student was in front of her home when she was allegedly attacked by another individual. The student screamed, attracting the attention of a family member, and the individual ran off. The La Porte Police Department was called, and the student went on to school and reported the incident to a school administrator and police officer on campus.
The alleged attacker is described as a Hispanic male, between 5'8" and 6'0" tall, with an average build and short hair, wearing tan coveralls. We have had no indications that any other students have been approached, and we are thankful that the student was unharmed. The La Porte Police Department is actively working the case.
I hope that you will use this incident as an opportunity to remind your children of the importance of safety. Please remind them to be aware of their surroundings at all times, report suspicious behavior or vehicles to a trusted adult, and never get into a vehicle with someone they do not know.

Queridos Padres:
Queremos avisarles de una
situación que ocurrió esta mañana cercas de la escuela secundaria.
Una de las alumnas de La Porte High School llego a la escuela esta
mañana y supuestamente reporto a la administración y ha la policía
oficial de la escuela que fue asaltada enfrente de su casa. La alumna
grito y alguien de su familia oyó los gritos y salieron de la casa
y viendo esto, el individual corrió. Ningún daño vino a la alumna.
La familia llamó a la policía oficial de La Porte y después de
hablar con ellos; siguió la alumna a la escuela.
El atacante alegado se
describe como varón hispano, entre 5'8" y 6'0" de alto, con
una estructura media, pelo corto y usando un traje de pantalón y
camisa entero de color café claro/camello/"tan". No tenemos
ninguna razón de creer que han acercado a otros alumnos. El
departamento del policía de La Porte esta trabajando activamente
sobre este caso.
Por favor tomen esta
oportunidad de hablar con sus hijos sobre la importancia de ser
consciente de lo circundante, reportar comportamiento o los
vehículos sospechosos a un adulto con que confíen y últimamente,
de nunca meterse en un vehiculo de alguien que no conocen.
La seguridad de nuestros
estudiantes es nuestra prioridad y por eso les avisamos de lo que
paso hoy. Muchas gracias por su apoyo de nuestros alumnos y escuelas.
