The La Porte ISD Board of Trustees will discuss the design and development of the new Bayshore Elementary School at its Tuesday, Jan. 20, meeting. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the Board Room of the LPISD Administration Building, 1002 San Jacinto Street.
The Board will consider approval of the design development plan as developed by PBK Architects. Trustees will review the floor plan, site plans and elevations for the new school, which will be located at McCabe Road and Highway 146.
Also on the agenda for the meeting is a review of the 2008 district Academic Excellence Indicator System data led by Linda Wadleigh, executive director of secondary education, and Isela Montes, executive director of elementary education.
The Board also will consider approval of the 2009-2010 school calendar during the meeting. A full agenda for the meeting is available on the "School Board" section of the LPISD web site,

Subsequent to the Board meeting, City of Shoreacres Mayor Jayo Washington has invited LPISD Superintendent Lloyd Graham to discuss Bayshore Elementary at a town hall meeting set for 7 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Houston Yacht Club. Graham will discuss the process behind the decision to rebuild Bayshore at a new site rather than renovating the current facility, rebuilding at the current site, or rezoning the district to accommodate Bayshore students at the district's other elementary schools.
