The
La Porte ISD Board of Trustees will hear a report on the due diligence
process for the proposed new Bayshore Elementary School site during
its Feb. 10 meeting.
The
Board will receive an update on the necessary assessments being completed
toward purchase of the 20-acre site, which is located at the corner
of McCabe Road and State Highway 146. Included in the assessments
are location and area surveys, topographical surveys and drainage, geotechnical
coring, phase 1 environmental study, traffic study, title search and
policy, and discussions with city, county and state agencies.
After
the due diligence process is completed, the Board will be able to consider
scheduling the closing on the property. PBK Architects, which
is providing architectural services, and Tellepsen Builders, the construction
manager at-risk, are targeting the Feb. 24 meeting to present to the
Board the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for construction of the new
Bayshore.
"At
this time, our Bayshore children are displaced from a permanent home
and are attending school on five different campuses," said LPISD Superintendent
Lloyd Graham. "Therefore, we are moving ahead with assessments
on the proposed new site and not delaying the decision. Our hope
is that, once the assessments are completed, we can finalize the purchase
and move forward with construction so that our students will have their
own school again in January 2010."
The
meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the Board Room of the LPISD Administration
Building, 1002 San Jacinto.
