Parents and community members may have heard that, on the morning of May 7,  La Porte ISD received a report of a second attempted abduction of a student.  Thanks to the expedient professional response of the La Porte Police Department, this report has been resolved.  After speaking with the driver of the vehicle, the investigating LPPD personnel concluded that the situation was misinterpreted by the student and that there was not a threat.  We appreciate the student's quick reaction and the response of the community member who opened his/her home to the student and reported the incident.  Because safety is so important, it is our strong preference that students err on the side of caution.

When today's incident was reported, our campuses and district responded immediately.  We appreciate the quick actions of our employees to ensure the safety of all our children.  La Porte ISD will remain in a state of heightened vigilance until the May 5 incident is resolved.  Thank you for your concern for our students.
