In a called meeting on Jan. 11, the La Porte ISD Board of Trustees appointed former trustee Gene Horn to serve in the Position 4 slot until the May 8 election.

Horn was selected to fill the position vacated by Larry Cox, who submitted his resignation from the Board due to personal reasons on Jan. 6.

Horn previously served on the LPISD Board of Trustees from 2001 to 2007. A long-time La Porte resident, he is originally from the Corsicana area and earned his degree in engineering at the University of Houston. After working over 30 years in engineering, he now owns his own home inspection business.

Horn and his wife, Charlotte, have three grown daughters--Linsey Allnatt, Emily Horn, and Jennifer Horn.
