Andrew Adler is the valedictorian of the Class of 2010 at La Porte High School, and Josh Dossey is this year's salutatorian.
Andrew is the son of Scott and Kaye Adler. He plans to attend Houston Baptist University to study ancient Greek/Hebrew and participate in the Honors College. He is a Coca Cola Scholar and a Distinguished Finalist for the Prudential Spirit of Community Award.
At LPHS, Andrew is involved in Academic Decathlon, Academic WorldQuest and Youth for Christ. He is a member of Bayshore Baptist Church and leads a weekly Bible study at his home.
In addition, Andrew has worked and taught for Emmanuel Ministries in Tenkasi, India, at a children's home, Bible college, kindergarten through 12th grade school and multiple churches.
Josh plans to attend Baylor University, where he will be involved in the Honors College. The son of Deborah Zuniga, he plans to major in biology/pre-medicine with the goal of becoming a pediatric surgeon.
Josh was named a Scholar in the National Hispanic Recognition Program based on the 2008 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test he took as a junior and his grade point average.
Josh is the current Student Council president and serves as a senior class officer and officer in National Honor Society, HOPE (High School's Outreach to People Everywhere) and Thespians. In addition, he is involved in TRUTH (Teens Reaching Upward Toward Health), Voices for America, Progressive Thinkers and LPHS Presidents' Council.
