La Porte ISD's Technology Department will offer free workshops to community members and employees who are interested in learning more about specific technology-related topics. Sessions will be offered on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings throughout the months of April, May and June.
"Tech Thursdays" will include 90-minute sessions on general topics of interest, with plenty of time for questions and answers from district technology staff members. Workshops will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the new LPISD Instructional Technology Center at 9832 Spencer Highway, next to the Baker Sixth Grade Campus.
Thursday sessions will include Internet Safety on April 15, Homework Helpers/Sites for Kids on April 29, Setting Up a Wireless Network on May 13, Free Tools for Your Computer on May 27, Web 2.0 and Social Media on June 10, and Ask the Expert on June 24.
No registration is required for the "Tech Thursday" sessions.
Saturday trainings are hands-on sessions designed to help interested users get more from the software on their computers. Sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, also at the Instructional Technology Center.
Saturday workshops will include Introduction to Excel on April 10, Introduction to Power Point on April 24, Google Applications on May 8, Introduction to Excel on May 22, Introduction Word on June 5, and Sound Editing with Audacity on June 19.
