Demolition will begin at La Porte ISD's old Bayshore Elementary School on May 10, four months after the new facility opened at 800 McCabe Road.  The former Bayshore, originally built in 1966, sustained significant damage during Hurricane Ike. 

  While Bayshore students temporarily attended classes at five other LPISD elementary schools, construction began on a new school in a higher location farther from Galveston Bay.  Just 15 months after the storm, the new Bayshore welcomed students and staff when school resumed after the winter break on Jan. 4.

  Following the demolition of the building, LPISD will work with officials of the cities of La Porte and Shoreacres to determine the best possible use for the site.
