Bulldogs Volleyball claims victory in bi-district playoffs

The La Porte Bulldog volleyball team defeated the Dobie Longhorns in three sets last night to claim a victory in the bi-district round of playoffs. The scores for the match were 25-17, 25-16, and 25-17. The win improves La Porte’s overall record to 29-7 on the season.
Junior setter Kimberlyn Patterson quarterbacked the offense with 31 assists for the match while senior middle blocker Jillian Humphrey led the Bulldog offensive attack with 20 kills and 3 blocks to go along with a 0.692 hitting percentage. Junior outside hitter Kendall Womble had 5 kills and 5 digs and junior middle blocker Abbie Robb chipped in with 4 kills and 3 assist blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Kristen Nastally added 3 kills, 3 digs and 1 assist block.
On the defensive side, junior libero Nicole Peake controlled the back row with 18 digs to stop the Longhorn attack. Senior defensive specialist Jill Dozier had 7 digs and senior right side hitter Karma McPhee added 6 digs, 3 aces, and 3 assist blocks for the Bulldogs.
In the area round of the playoffs the Bulldogs will next play the winner of Clear Creek and Fort Bend Travis. |
