La Porte High School Band members earned top honors during the December 3rd and 4th Region XIX Band tryouts at Dobie High School.
Those students making Wind Ensemble were Josh Thomas, Clarinet and Michelle Diaz, French Horn. Students making Wind Symphony included Danielle LePage, Flute; Emily Gonzales, Oboe; Samantha Ghandora, Trombone and Devin Villarreal, Bass Trombone. Students making Symphonic Winds were John Allgood, Flute and Steven Garza, Bassoon. Allen Ellison, Contra-Bass Clarinet and Bryan Duncan, Bassoon made 1st alternates. Emily Gonzales, Bryan Duncan, Michelle Diaz and Samantha Ghandora qualified to advance to area auditions to be held January 8th at Alvin High School.
Twenty-four band students from La Porte attended the Region tryouts. In addition to La Porte ISD, Region XIX is made up of school districts on the east side of the Houston Metro including Aldine, Barbers Hill, Channelview, Crosby, Deer Park, Humble, Galena Park, Huffman, Humble, New Caney, North Forest, Pasadena and Sheldon.
A Region band performance will be held on January 15th at Summer Creek High School. |
