La Porte High School's one-act play cast and crew will advance to area competition on Friday, April 8, after earning top honors at the District 21-5A contest.
La Porte hosted the district competition on March 26 in the high school's Sonja Angelo Theater. The LPHS play was chosen as one of two productions, along with Goose Creek CISD's Ross S. Sterling High School, that will now compete at San Jacinto College Central Campus.
The April 8 area event will begin at 4 p.m., and La Porte will be the last school to perform at 9 p.m. Six schools will compete in the area contest. Admission is $10.
La Porte performed the comedy, "Is He Dead?," by Mark Twain, with several members of the company earning individual honors at district. Stephen Mabry was selected as Best Actor, and Justin King and Cameron Regan were named to the All-Star Cast. Chelsea Bishop and Celest Palacios earned Honorable Mention All-Star Cast, and Taylor McElroy received the Individual Tech Award.
Other cast members include Christian Cisneros, Chris Kimball, Joseph Redd, Ally Oliphint, Kandice Wicke, Travis Wright, Corbin Ayres, Jacob Rhodes, Alissa Frobenius and Leigh-Ann Ballard. The crew also includes Tyler McElroy, Zach Ashworth, Emily Edwards and Chelsea Robinson, and alternates are Ian Moser, Kayla Zaborowski, Kirstin Dunkerson and Reyth Hall.
Other students who helped with hosting the event were Audrey Ladd, Sammi Oliphint, Corey Nelson and Hunter Turlington. Directors are Kerry Regan, Steve Regan and Kelly Nelson.
