La Porte ISD Superintendent of
Schools, Dr. Michael W. Say with Executive Director of Elementary
Education, Alfreddie Felder met Tuesday, June 21 with parents,
district staff and community members to address the elementary,
including the Baker Sixth Grade Campus, dress code for the upcoming
school year. This committee was formed through nominations by
Board members, volunteers who had expressed interest and parents
nominated by individual campuses. Thirty (30) committee members
were in attendance for the lengthy meeting, but at meeting’s end,
the committee was in agreement on their recommendation for the dress
code for La Porte ISD elementary students.
“
I was extremely pleased by the
involvement,” stated Dr. Say. “There were diverse opinions,
but the committee worked well on coming to consensus on the
recommendations. The committee did recommend that we maintain a
consistent dress code across campuses. Therefore, we worked to
make a standardized dress code that was more reasonable for all
elementary students.”
The committee recommendations were
adopted by the Board of Trustees on June 30, 2005 and are effective for
the 2005-2006 school year.
